Where it all began...

About Wilbur and Flops

"I wasn't a reader as a child."  I've used these words so many times and as a primary teacher, I was perhaps sharing a secret that shouldn't be promoted.  My own parents read to me, and I could immediately tell if my dad skipped a page of The Ugly Duckling when I was snoozing through the story.  So why didn't I enjoy reading as a teenager?  This I don't know, but with my own children, and the children I teach, I am determined to inspire a love of books and reading and learning that will last a lifetime.  This sounds perfect but the battle between books and screens in our house at the moment is a really tricky one!

Introducing Wilbur and Flops Bespoke Teaching & SENCo Support.

The names Wilbur and Flops came from my children.  We gave them two short names (being a teacher, I was keen that their names would be easy to spell) and we spend our days lengthening them!  Will, Wilbur, William, Wilberfoss, and Fern, Fernie, Fernie-Pie, and Flopsy (she was born with her ear a little crumpled and became Flopsy before we left hospital).  Wilbur and Flops came in the form of rag dolls which I used in preschool classes, my first venture in 2018.

With extensive experience as a teacher in the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), Key Stages One and Two, and as a Primary SENCo (independent and state schools) across two

local authorities, the bespoke consultant support and tutoring I offer

could be just right for your child, your family, your nursery or group.
